DAY 01 ARRIVAL AT CHACHAPOYAS AIRPORT / OPTIONALS

Arrival at Chachapoyas Airport, reception, and transfer to accommodation in Chachapoyas.

Optional:

Visit the pottery village of Huancas and its canyons, overnight in Chachapoyas.
Visit the Quiocta cavern, overnight in Chachapoyas.

DAY 02 VISIT TO REVASH AND LEYMEBAMBA MUSEUM

The Revash Mausoleums are a series of collective tombs of the Chachapoya elite, built on narrow ledges of a cliff as small houses adorned with niches and ochre-colored magical-religious pictograms. To reach the observation point of these impressive tombs, a one-hour hike is necessary.

The Leymebamba Museum was built to protect and preserve more than 200 mummies and the Chachapoya-Inca archaeological collection, such as quipus, gourds, and other instruments rescued from the Mausoleums of the Lagoon of the Condors, which were in danger of being extracted by unscrupulous people. This museum was built thanks to international support and the Leymebamba community, using ancestral techniques while employing technology to preserve the artifacts.

DAY 03 VISIT TO KUELAP

Llacta Kuélap is an enormous elliptical construction that stands at an altitude of 3,030 meters above sea level on a mountain ridge overlooking the upper Utcubamba Valley. The citadel is impressive for the extent of its towering overlapping platforms, temples, and the spatial distribution of the 420 circular dwellings within. Initially considered a fortress, research has identified it as a fortified citadel.

DAY 04 VISIT TO GOCTA

Gocta is a 771-meter tall waterfall that falls in two stages. To reach its base, either from San Pablo de Valera or Cocachimba, requires a 5.5-kilometer hike. The round trip usually takes about 5 hours. The trails wind through cultivated fields and forests, where you can spot the Andean cock-of-the-rock very early in the morning. Overnight stay in Chachapoyas.

DAY 05 TRANSFER TO CHACHAPOYAS AIRPORT

At the agreed time, you will be transferred to the Chachapoyas airport for your flight to Lima.
